"Anything But Chardonnay" - This Chardonnay will be wanting you more with no regret... fruits hit depths of vanilla, crisp and fresh!!
Style - Rich
Grapes - 100% Chardonnay
Tasting - It's really astonishing that we can grown and make a wine such as this. It's a style of Chardonnay that has a lot in common with the wines of the Macon region in southern Burgundy such as Vire-Clessé or Saint-Veran. Peach blossom, green melon, gentle nut milk tones and lashing of fresh citrus gel together into a wine that has a great depth of character and a finish kissed by gentle toast and vanilla.
FYI: There's no disguising the freshness inherent in English Chardonnay. Brisk as a northern wind in March it enlivens and tightens the wine. Think Chablis but a few hundred miles north. The total production fitted into five Burgundy barrels (225 litres each), only one of which was new. So 20% new French oak then. That's the part lingering in the background that gives the gentle toast, vanilla and hazlenut vibe. But this is a long way from the butter and cream-soda pop style.
